Welcome to 11-10 Therapy;
Routine backup for your life

Supporting individuals and families navigating first responder life

Who We Are

11-10 Therapy is a Marriage and Family Therapy Corporation that works with individuals, couples, and families wanting to improve their relational and mental health. While we do not work exclusively with first responders, 11-10 Therapy was created out of a need recognized within that community. First responders see and experience things the average individual is not faced with and may need help understanding them. The dynamic that exists in these vocations can create a fear of seeking counsel or healthy processing of events and stressors, which can ultimately lead to burnout and depression and adversely affect a person’s overall functioning.

Why We Exist

11-10 Therapy exists to provide processing for those whose vocation routinely calls on them to show up on someone else’s worst day and then return home to tackle the challenges that exist in their own lives. We specialize in trauma therapy (EMDR), couples’ work, and realigning family dynamics to increase functioning. We work with evidence-based therapeutic approaches to help first responders and their families maintain or reclaim the wellness and relationship they deserve. At 11-10 Therapy, we specialize in “helping those who help others.”

What We Value

At 11-10 Therapy, we value the work done by first responders and know that the job is challenging, requiring you to live outside a 9-5 and show up on the worst day of other people’s lives. Our therapists are culturally competent through specialized training. Our therapists provide trauma processing and tools to fight compassion fatigue and increase family functioning. At 11-10 Therapy, we want to help you process everything you carry.

Cory Candelas is the owner and founder of 11-10 Therapy. She was a Deputy Sheriff for almost eight years until she resigned in September 2021 to pursue her full-time career as a therapist.

Cory earned her Master of Science in Psychology at California Baptist University in 2012, completed her 3000 hours for licensure as a therapist at The Grove Counseling and Community Center, and passed her licensing exam with the Board of Behavioral Sciences in 2018.

Cory’s time working in law enforcement has changed her for the better. She had known what it was like to process past traumatic events and toxic relationships with clients before being a deputy; however, she now knows what it is like to arrive in the middle of their chaos, be expected to quickly “fix it,” and immediately handle the next call. Cory experienced first responders, medical personnel, and even teachers dealing with some of the worst and most challenging trauma, abuse, neglect, injury, and injustice society has to offer.

11-10 is Riverside County Sheriff’s department code for routine backup. Cory found that often, having a good partner from the beginning kept a complex and volatile call for service from becoming more dangerous. Whether it is your marriage, your family, a traumatic event, stress from work, or working through a diagnosis, having the right person to process and work through it with you can make all the difference since the more exposure to tragedy, the more a person’s brain tries to compensate.

We hope that learning the background and experience helped you decide if 11-10 Therapy fits your wellness needs. If this sounds like your need, click on the appointment tab to start.

We look forward to “helping those who help others.”
